Our story

Local people. Honest work. Since 2011.

We're a team of twelve technicians, installers, and office staff who live in the communities we serve. Here's how we got here.

Why Pinelands

Named for the place we love.

The Pine Barrens are a little rugged, a little misunderstood, and completely essential to South Jersey. We'd like to think we're the same.

Pinelands started in 2011 when Dana Kowalski got tired of watching homeowners get sold equipment they didn't need. The idea was simple: be the HVAC company you'd want to send to your own parents' house. Show up on time. Wear the shoe covers. Explain the problem. Give a fair price in writing. Then do the job right the first time.

Fifteen years later we're twelve people strong, with six service technicians, two install leads, an apprentice, and an office that answers the phone with a real voice. The promise hasn't changed.

The Pinelands Heating and Air team

The people you'll talk to

Meet the team

Portrait of Dana Kowalski, Owner at Pinelands Heating and Air

Dana Kowalski

Owner

Dana spent twelve years as a lead technician before starting Pinelands with one van and a borrowed ladder. Still answers the occasional night call, still knows every customer's furnace by name.

Portrait of Rosa Delgado, Office manager at Pinelands Heating and Air

Rosa Delgado

Office manager

Rosa runs the office, the schedule, and, depending on who you ask, the company. If you've ever gotten a fast, friendly reply from us, you've met her work.

Portrait of Marcus Bell, Service manager at Pinelands Heating and Air

Marcus Bell

Service manager

Marcus leads the field team and signs off on every commercial quote. He is famous for explaining heat pumps with a coffee mug and a napkin.

Plus six service technicians, two install leads, and one very determined apprentice.

Milestones

Fifteen years, one van at a time.

A short history of a small company that keeps showing up.

2011

One van, one promise

Dana Kowalski opens Pinelands Heating and Air out of a garage in Jacquard Mills, with a promise to show up on time and explain things in plain English.

2013

The first hire

Our first technician joins. The van gets a sibling.

2015

Comfort Club launches

Our maintenance plan starts with 40 households. Today it covers well over a thousand systems.

2017

Up on the roof

We add light-commercial rooftop service for local offices, shops, and restaurants.

2019

A real shop

We move into our shop on Strowger Way, with a training bay and room for the growing fleet.

2022

Heat pumps go mainstream

The whole team trains on cold-climate heat pumps, and oil-to-heat-pump conversions become one of our most requested jobs.

2024

Apprenticeship program

We start training the next generation of South Jersey technicians, paid from day one.

2026

Faster replies, same people

We rebuild how we handle the inbox. Rosa used to spend the first two hours of every day reading messages. Now she spends ten minutes approving replies, and the rest with customers.

What we believe

The rules we work by.

On time

We show up when we say we will. If plans change, you'll hear it from us first.

Plain English

No jargon unless you use it first. You should understand every line of your quote.

No upsell

We recommend what you need, not what pays best. Sometimes that means a repair, not a system.

Leave it better

Shoe covers on, drop cloths down, and every Spring we join a Pine Barrens trail cleanup.
